Creating an email mailbox.

Two ways to get you@yourdomain.com at Rivervo — a Business email mailbox, or a mailbox that comes with your website hosting — and how to set up each.

4 MIN READ

There are two separate ways to have a mailbox on your own domain at Rivervo. They run on different systems, so pick one per domain and follow the matching steps.

  • Business email — a separate email plan (Rivervo Mail), managed in the panel on the project's Email tab. Paid per mailbox, by card. Works whether or not you have hosting with us.
  • Mail on the hosting — mailboxes included in your website hosting plan, managed on the same Email tab. If the hosting is suspended, these mailboxes go offline with it.

Business email

1. Set up email on the domain

New panel (rivervo.com/panel): + Create → Business email, or open the domain's project → Email tab → Set up email (Add email to this domain if you already have an email plan).

New customers can start with a free trial of Professional Mail: 1 month, up to 4 mailboxes, first purchase only.

2. Add the DNS records

The Email tab lists the records your domain needs — MX, SPF and DKIM (required) and DMARC (recommended) — each marked Found or Not found yet. Copy the exact values from the panel. Where to add them:

  • Domain on Rivervo nameservers with a Rivervo website → Website → DNS zone (there's a button on the card)
  • Domain registered at Rivervo with other DNS → the domain's settings
  • Anywhere else → at your registrar or DNS host (on Cloudflare, add them as DNS only, not proxied)

Then click I've added the records — check. The panel also re-checks every 5 minutes.

3. Create the mailbox

Once the records are found: Email tab → New mailbox.

  • Address: letters, digits, dot, dash and underscore
  • Password: 8–128 characters — save it in a password manager

You need a free mailbox slot in your plan. To add more: Your email plan → Add or remove mailboxes.

4. Read your mail

Open webmail on the Email tab, or go to app.aegis.email. For mail apps: IMAP mail.aegis.email, port 993, SSL/TLS; SMTP mail.aegis.email, port 465, SSL/TLS; username is the full email address. Details per app: Setting up email clients.

Extra addresses and forwarding

Want info@, support@ and hello@ to land in one inbox? Don't buy three mailboxes. Email tab → Aliases and forwarding → Add: an extra address that delivers to up to 20 addresses, inside or outside your domain. Aliases are free. They can't be edited — delete and create again.

Passwords, storage, deleting

  • New password: the mailbox → Change password or name. Support can't see or recover mailbox passwords.
  • Storage: mailbox size is set by your plan. For more space, change the plan or buy extra storage (Mailbox storage) — it applies to every mailbox.
  • Delete a mailbox: deletes its mail permanently. The paid mailbox stays in your plan for reuse.

Mail on the hosting (included with your website)

Create the mailbox

  1. Project → Email → Mailboxes → New mailbox (or type «mailbox» in the panel's search)
  2. The address, a password (at least 12 characters, or Generate) and the Mailbox size (empty — no limit within the hosting)
  3. Create. Save the password now: it is not shown again.

Read your mail

Webmail next to the mailbox, or https://webmail.yourdomain.com.

For mail apps, the mailbox → ⋯ → Settings for mail programs shows the exact server settings. Use IMAP (port 993, SSL/TLS) rather than POP3, so mail stays in sync across devices.

Forwarders

Forwarders → address and Forward to → Add: mail for an address (support@yourdomain.com) goes on to another one — no extra mailbox needed.

Size, cleaning and deleting

  • Change the size: the mailbox → ⋯ → Mailbox size.
  • Free up space: the mailbox → ⋯ → Clean the mailbox deletes letters older or larger than you choose, folder by folder.
  • Delete: the mailbox → ⋯ → Delete. All its letters are deleted permanently — save anything you need first.

Common problems

  • "Login failed" — the username is the full address: you@yourdomain.com.
  • Mail sent to you never arrives — check your domain's MX records point to the email system you actually use. Business email and mail on the hosting can't both receive mail for the same domain.
  • Your mail lands in spam elsewhere — SPF, DKIM and DMARC need to be set up. See SPF, DKIM, DMARC.
